Journal History
The Sentinel Journal of Health Sciences was founded in 2025 with the vision of providing a rigorous, open-access platform for health sciences research originating from Nepal and the broader international community.
The journal was established by a team of committed academics and clinicians who recognized the need for a high-quality, ethical peer-reviewed journal in the health sciences domain. The name "Sentinel" reflects the journal's mission — to be a vigilant guardian of scientific integrity, constantly watching over the quality and impact of health sciences research.
The ISSN registration application was submitted to the National Archives of Nepal in 2025. Upon receipt of the ISSN numbers, the journal will publish its inaugural volume.
Publication Ethics
SJOHS strictly adheres to the publication ethics guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
- All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous, double-blind peer review
- Plagiarism is checked using industry-standard software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate)
- Data fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism are grounds for immediate rejection and blacklisting
- Authors must declare conflicts of interest
- Research involving human subjects must have ethical approval from a recognized institutional review board (IRB/Ethics Committee)
- Clinical trials must be registered in a recognized international trial registry
- The journal follows COPE guidelines for handling retractions and corrections
Open Access Policy
SJOHS is a fully open-access journal. All articles are published free of charge and are immediately and permanently accessible to readers worldwide, without subscription barriers.
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which allows readers to freely share and adapt the content, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors.
